Our Story

Integrated River Basin Management Society is dedicated to restoring watershed ecology and promoting sustainable natural resource management.

Founded in 2009 under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act 1961, our mission is to protect the ecosystems of different river basins.

Activities

Sarunala watershed Development projects

The Sarunala Watershed Development Project is a transformative initiative aimed at revitalizing the ecological health of the Sarunala catchment area, specifically targeting 23 micro-watersheds within the Amrapara block of Pakur district, Jharkhand.

Upper Kiul Watershed Development Project

From 2019 to till date The watershed development programme was taken up in 10 Villages of Thansighdih Panchayat, under Kiul river catchment in Tisri Block, Giridih District, Jharkhand, from 2019-20. IRBMS prepared an integrated watershed development plan for 3 micro watersheds in this area.

Hirapur Watershed Development Project

Hirapur Watershed Development project is partnered by IRBMS, AID and MBBCDS. There are 8 tolas of this watershed are scattered over the valley area of watershed under Dwarka River Basin area in the GP Hirapur, Block Shikaripara, Dumka District, Jharkhand.

Our Goals

To Promote and Propagate Effective River Rejuvenation Planning.

To facilitate Multi-sector partnerships and Alliances to protect and revive rivers.

To Facilitate scientific knowledge sharing in sustainable, integrated river basin management.

To raise awareness of environmental, economic, scientific, social and cultural aspects of rivers.
