Sarunala Watershed Development Project
The Sarunala Watershed Development Project is a transformative initiative aimed at revitalizing the ecological health of the Sarunala catchment area, specifically targeting 23 micro-watersheds within the Amrapara block of Pakur district, Jharkhand. This ambitious project focuses on the restoration and sustainable management of natural resources, encompassing land, water, and forest ecosystems. The primary goal is to foster sustainable development and improve the livelihoods of local tribal communities through a multi-faceted approach. Key elements of the project include land management, water management, and forest management. The project is a collaborative effort involving IRBMS, AID, and JVP, where IRBMS provides technical expertise in development planning, implementation strategy, and monitoring. AID offers crucial funding and support, enabling the implementation of various project activities, and JVP brings in grassroots knowledge and wisdom, facilitating community engagement and ensuring that the interventions are culturally appropriate and community-driven.
Upper Kiul watershed Development Project
From 2019 to till date the watershed development programme was taken up in 10 Villages of Thansighdih Panchayat, under Kiul river catchment in Tisri Block, Giridih District, Jharkhand, from 2019-20. IRBMS prepared an integrated watershed development plan for 3 micro watersheds in this area. These villages used to face acute water crisis, lowered fertility of agriculture land due to rapid soil erosion, rainfall deficiency due to deforestation & migration before the implementation of watershed program.
Hirapur Watershed Development Project
Hirapur Watershed Development project is partnered by IRBMS, AID and MBBCDS (Mahammad Bazar Backward Class Development Society). There are 8 tolas of this watershed are scattered over the valley area of watershed under Dwarka River Basin area in the GP Hirapur, Block Shikaripara, Dumka District, Jharkhand.
These tribal villages used to face severe water scarcity before the implementation of the Watershed Program. The restoration of jungle ecosystem through Mioyaki afforestation technique, development of number of ponds, repairing of the reservoirs and construction of check dams has brought huge relief to the villagers.
Achanakmar Watershed Development Project
IRBMS first time started working in the Achanakmar forest of Maikal hills region in the Bilaspur district of Chattisgarh. The Umariya watershed project has been started in Umariya village of Kota block. In the current financial year 2 ponds has been completed.
Lukapali Watershed Development Project
The watershed development is based on Lukapali; a village of Paikamal block of Bargar district of Orissa. Here work is also started from the current financial year. Till now work of 10 nos. farm ponds and repairing of 1 earthen check dam is completed.
Deopur Watershed Development Project
The watershed development programmes were taken up in Deopur Village, Domchanch Block, Kodarma District, Jharkhand. This project is partnered by IRBMS, AID and Savera Foundation, Koderma, Jharkhand like previous two development model. This village in the middle of the forest also used to face severe water scarcity and agriculture was affected due to very little irrigation facilities. Considering that villagers with AID support developed a canal to bring water to the villages reservoir locally known as โAharโ from natural drainage line around 700 meters away but failed for several years. IRBMS provided technical solution to channelize the stream water towards downhill areaโs canal to bring water to village main water bodies. Now the main reservoirs are full of water round the year.
